Spring represents renewal, and there’s no better time to refocus (or start!) healthy habits. Smoothies are a great way to get nutrients directly into your body, which absorbs liquids much more easily than solids.
Many smoothie powders pack a punch of protein and vitamins, but not all are created equal. Take a look at the ingredients of most brands and you’ll find a long list of questionable chemicals and hidden soy derivatives and fillers. To get the nutrition you want without all the unhealthy extra additives, try Manitoba Harvest’s Certified Organic Hemp Protein powder. It tastes great and each hemp serving delivers 9 g of fiber, 8 g of protein and 400 mg of Omega-3s – good for body and mind (though not that type of high!). And there are only three ingredients in the whole formula: hemp protein powder, organic palm sugar and fair trade organic cocoa powder.
Below is one of the smoothies I make on the days that I do moderate to intense exercise. It’s a good way to refuel after a workout and keeps my energy up for hours. For an extra health kick, I also stir in some Camu Camu powder, a rainforest superfruit that is full of vitamic C and amino acids that are essential for glowing skin. Get the wild-crafted powder from CAMU Powder by Navitas – definitely worth it since wild-crafted plants tend to have higher levels of nutrients and antioxidants!
