The Postman Is Coming!

There’s something exciting about receiving a package in the mail.  The anticipation. The unexpectedness.  The surprise contents inside.  I was in college the last time I received a box of fun goodies in the mail from my mom, so when I heard about the subscription service Quarterly, Co., I was intrigued.

Every three months for around $30, you can sign up to receive a box of undisclosed items curated by select contributors like artists, writers or industry influencers.  When I read that the natural beauties behind the blog No More Dirty Looks were collaborating on a clean beauty subscription, I was in!  Receiving new products to try in the mail is just what I’ve needed to mix up my natural beauty routine.

I received my first shipment last week and it was well worth the wait.  Soapwalla deodorant, a Hydrea London natural bristle body brush and Leap Organics bar soap were neatly wrapped up in my first package. I had just scooped out the last bit of my Soapwalla deodorant earlier that morning, so the timely refill was very appreciated (read my past review on Soapwalla deodorant here).

I’ve known about the benefits of dry brushing for a while, but never explored it.  Though there are mixed views on its effectiveness, dry brushing is said to stimulate lymph nodes and get your blood flowing, helping to move toxins out of your body.  The main rule of thumb is to always stroke the brush up towards your heart.  After a week of dry brushing, my skin is definitely softer and I’ve decided it’s a pre-shower ritual I am definitely going to keep!  Plus unlike the larger dry brushes on the market, the Hydrea London brush is the perfect size for my small San Francisco bathroom and is made from 100 percent natural bristle and FSC certified Beechwood.

I have sensitive skin, so I typically have to be careful about my shower soap.  The organic Lavender, Clove and Orange bar soap by Leap Organics, however, is definitely a new favorite.  Made in Boston, the all-natural, vegan and triple-milled soap smells amazing and left my skin clean and moisturized.   And founder Luke Penney makes sure the company follows zero-waste, sustainable business practices.  What’s not to love?

All I can say is: hurry, Mr. Postman! My next Quarterly Co. shipment from No More Dirty Looks can’t come soon enough.
